A wart (also known as verruca when occurring on the sole of the foot or on toes) is generally a small, rough tumor, typically on hands and feet but often other areas, that resemble a cauliflower or solid blister. They vary in size upwards from 1mm diameter. They can develop in one place or can be in numerous locations. A cluster of verruca is called mosaic and can consist of hundreds od little verrucae in one location.
Warts are common, and are caused by a viral infection, specifically by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are contagious by touch transfer.
Verucca and Warts can go away by themselves but re infections are very common.
1064nm laser is the most successful treatment of verruca and warts on the market today. Deep pulse-profile heating of the verruca or wart with our 1064nm Nd:YAG laser destroys the verruca cells by targeting the blood supply to the verruca or wart. Research has also shown that it destroys the virus that causes the verruca in the first place.
The treatments are safe and effective, removing the verruca or wart and leaving the skin and surrounding tissues unharmed and intact. When the verruca and wart is successfully treated it will fall off and leave normal skin in its place.
Treatments are scheduled 3 weeks apart and number of treatments are dependant on patient comfort, size and depth of the vewrruca or wart.
General good foot hygiene is needed to ensure good results and results are expected in over 90% of cases.
