Laser hair removal treatment is a safe way of removing unwanted hair. New Look Laser Treatment operate from Newcastle to Sunderland and all areas in the North East. It works by the laser beaming at the base of the hair follicle causing it to stop producing hair. For the treatment to work it uses the dark pigment present in some hairs – treatment is not effective on blonde, white or grey hair. The treatment can be performed on almost any area of your body leaving you with that freshly removed feeling.
How does the treatment work?
The laser is attracted to the dark pigment in hair called melanin. The laser beam travels to the base of the hair follicle where it uses melanin as a ‘conductor’ where it disperses as thermal energy. This damages the base of the hair follicle so it cannot produce hair as quickly. This rate of hair growth will decrease as you have further treatments.
As well as the laser needing melanin, the hair must also be at a certain stage of growth for the treatment to work. This is known as the active growing phase and its when the hair is connected to the base of the hair follicle. This connection provides a direct pathway for the laser to disperse where the hair is produced at the base of the follicle.
Not every hair is in this phase at any one time on the body which is why you will need multiple treatments. This is known as the resting phase.
How will I feel during Treatment?
Treatment is virtually painless in truth.
Is this the right treatment for me?
As melanin is needed for the treatment to work, laser hair removal unfortunately does not yet work on blonde, white or grey hair.
How often will I need treatment?
Regular treatment of Facial hair is treated every 4 weeks and body hair is treated every 6 weeks. We recommend a minimum of six treatments.
What happens after treatment?
You may have some redness in the skin which is completely normal and settles within 24 hours. Protect your skin from the sun to avoid any darkening caused by increased pigment in the skin called hyperpigmentation. New Look will advise you further on creams etc if necessary.
